Some fruits of patient stalking with a long lens from a lawn chair in the tangled thickets of my suburban back yard:

House sparrow

Common grackle

Mourning doves
All three were taken with a Pentax *ist DS and a Sigma 135-400mm zoom. The lawn chair is a generic green plastic model from Home Depot.
Fabulous shots. - How close were the birds - ie - can you remember what length the zoom was set at when you took thses?

All photos were taken with the lens racked out to its full 400mm -- that's the equivalent of 600mm with the Pentax's 1.5x lens multiplier.
